Hatty in Colorado

We awoke to a wonderful phone call this morning from Josh.  It was so wonderful to hear his voice.  Brett got to join in on conference call, and Brenden was home, so our whole family could talk together.  (Brenden thought it was weird to be on this side of the phone conversation) Josh says he's just grinning, and can't keep from smiling!!  He said they got up at 3 a.m. to help some in their group who had to leave at 4 a.m. and then he and his group left at 5 a.m.  He said he was singing "Called to Serve!"  He said they would start out singing very soft then a little louder and a little louder.  The other Missionaries were hollering at him to quiet down, but he said he knew they couldn't sleep.  He enjoyed the MTC.  Funny thing, he said he had salad for Lunch and Dinner the whole time he was there, because he didn't want to gain weight.  He says he's lost a lot of muscle, but oh well.  ha ha.  (At home we were amazed if he ate veggies of any kind, we think he's sick!)  He said, "Oh yeah, I got a cold, but I'm over it so it's all good."

We had sent a calling card and he got it on Saturday (talk about close timing) I told him in a small note, to read very carefully how to use the calling card, and he did it!!!!  Wah hoo.  He is excited to meet the mission president, to learn and grow in Colorado.  He will let us know soon, where he will be starting off his mission.  His bag was 52 lbs, but they didn't overcharge.  (I think Salt Lake must be a forgiving airport)!

Talise and I  just imagine he's at a baseball game far away.  Josh said, that he didn't play baseball or softball once while in the MTC, he said he didn't want to while serving.  Those who know Josh know that setting aside baseball is a huge sacrifice for him.

We asked him what he wanted to say to all, and he said, "Have Love and Charity!"
